Located on the southeastern coast of Singapore, East Coast Park attracts more than 7 million visitors a year to its man-made beach, barbecue pits, bike paths and various entertainment facilities. Singapore’s largest park is also its most popular beach and outdoor recreation area.

The 9-mile (15-kilometer) stretch of sand that runs the length of the park is its main draw. While the sand and palm trees had to be imported, the water is swimable and you can rent sporting gear, like kayaks and boards for windsurfing, right from the beach. During the summer months, the park offers cable-towed wakeboarding and waterskiing with obstacles where you can practice your moves.

Back on land, you’ll find a newly opened Xtreme Skate Park, built to international competition standards, where novices and pros can practice on the street course as well as combo and vertical bowls. A paved promenade running the length of the park is perfect for cycling or rollerblading.

When you get hungry, head to the East Coast Seafood Centre, a collection of restaurants specializing in seafood, including Singapore’s famous — and delicious — chili crab. The park also contains several barbecue pits and picnic areas for a do-it-yourself meal at the beach.
